The Challenge

  • The TPRM document contains links to risk assessments and supporting documents from projects, contracts, and supplier forms, which currently open in multiple new tabs. Separate teams manage different modules, each employing their unique approach to presenting information.

  • The client is unhappy about having multiple tabs open, losing track, and becoming disoriented

The Goal

  • Standardize the product across the platform and minimize the number of tabs

  • Open links in the same window and use the back button to return

My Role & Responsibilities

Lead UX Designer:

  • Analyze current system settings

  • Ideation with Designers and Product Managers

  • Wireframing

Problem Statement

The TPRM document's inconsistent link structure causes navigational confusion. Risk-related links open in the same tab, while project, contract, and supplier links open in separate tabs, disrupting the user experience and making it hard to navigate efficiently.

Standardizing the TPRM document links to open in the same tab will reduce user confusion and improve navigation efficiency.

UX Team Research

  • The UX Design Team found that only one other product besides TPRM has the same problem of opening screens in separate tabs Supplier Onboarding

  • As a result of past experiences, it is not recommended to change this behavior across all products and for all clients at once.

Short Term Solution: All external and internal document links will go back to TPRM document

Long Term Solution

User Choice and Flexibility:

Allow users to decide between navigating information in one tab or opening it in a new one, similar to Microsoft Teams.

Enhanced User Experience:

Reduces confusion and improves overall user satisfaction by providing navigation options.

Effective Task Management:

Helps users manage multiple tasks more efficiently by organizing information to suit their workflow.
